As the private arm of Royal Brompton and Harefield NHS Foundation Trust, RB&HH Specialist Care has access to the UK’s top post-graduate teaching and research facilities, as well as some of the most advanced diagnostic equipment and medical devices in the world.
Royal Brompton and Harefield hospitals have 450 beds, including 40 private single occupancy rooms. The hospitals are home to 10 operating theatres and 8 catheter labs.
Private patients visit us from all over the world confident that they will receive first class, round-the-clock care and treatment. Care is provided in comfortable surroundings in private wings within the main hospital buildings, 24 hours a day – seven days a week. The private patients centre has its own dedicated high dependency units which are equipped to intensive care standards, where some patients may spend time following surgery or other complex procedures. As you would expect of an internationally recognised hospital, we ensure that all patients’ cultural and religious needs are respected during their stay with us.
Our private patients benefit from comfortable single occupancy rooms with en-suite bathrooms. Furnished to a high standard, they come equipped with a telephone, free Wi Fi, room safe, refrigerator and television – which screens both domestic and satellite channels. We are also pleased to offer our patients a complimentary pack of toiletries and a complimentary newspaper, delivered daily. A wide variety of overseas papers are also available upon request.
Our chefs offer a wide choice of cuisine. Patients can select from our a la carte menu or from meals suitable for diabetic, weight reducing, healthy eating, vegetarian, Halal and Kosher diets. Much of our produce is organic and locally grown. We will be pleased to source particular requests from local providers when possible.
Intensive Care Facilities
Royal Brompton and Harefield’s critical care and anaesthesia departments are known throughout Europe for their expertise and level of patient care. As such, we receive a number of patient referrals from across the UK, and overseas, particularly for cases of acute respiratory failure and problems weaning from mechanical ventilation.
Royal Brompton and Harefield’s two state-of-the-art intensive care units are staffed by expert nursing and medical staff, 24 hours a day. Our adult intensive care unit comprises 38 beds, whilst our Paediatric Intensive Care unit (PICU) has 20 critical care beds equipped with the latest technology to care for younger patients. The units have sophisticated monitoring facilities and high nursing ratios to ensure careful monitoring of our patients.
Imaging and diagnostics
Investment in imaging technology has revolutionised the way cardiac patients are investigated. We offer the full range of imaging services including ultrasound, nuclear medicine, CT scans, Cardiac Magnetic Resonance (CMR) and fluoroscopy. Our dedicated cardiac CT (64 slice) and CMR scanners allow consultants to detect the early signs of coronary heart disease and assess coronary artery blockages using non-invasive diagnostics. Interestingly, our imaging department undertakes 70% of the UK’s CMR workload.
Furthermore, our on-site pathology, physiotherapy, clinical psychology, dietetics and pharmacy departments offer a broad spectrum of diagnostic, treatment and support services.
At Royal Brompton Hospital, private outpatients are seen by our consultants in a well-appointed outpatient suite comprising consulting rooms, treatment room, x-ray facilities, kitchen and a restful patient lounge.
A nursing sister trained in cardiothoracic care is responsible for the daily management of the consulting rooms and a dedicated private patient radiographer, support nurse and private patients reception team are all based on site to provide additional support.
