Coming in by public transport
The nearest underground stations are Northwood, Rickmansworth and Uxbridge. None of these stations are within walking distance of the hospital, but they are accessible by car or taxi in about 20 minutes. Buses, detailed below, also run to the hospital from Uxbridge station. Rail users may travel from Denham station (five minutes by car or taxi) which is a main line station with regular service connections to all parts of the United Kingdom. Click here for the National Rail Enquiries’ live arrivals and departures board for Denham station.
Harefield is served by the following buses from Uxbridge tube station:
- U9: Uxbridge Station – Harefield West (Belfry Avenue), every 20 minutes, Monday – Saturday, hourly on Sundays
- 331: Uxbridge Station – Northwood – Ruislip. (This service is to the “Kings Arms”, Harefield, which is approximately 2 minutes’ walk from the main hospital entrance.)
- R21: Mount Vernon Hospital – Harefield – Rickmansworth – Maple Cross – Denham – Uxbridge (This is an occasional service only.)

Coming in by car
From London pick up the A40 towards Oxford. Turn off onto the slip road for the B467 Uxbridge, Harefield, Ickenham. This exit is after the Northolt aerodrome. You are now at Swakeley’s roundabout.
From Oxford M40
Continue onto the A40. Turn off onto the slip road for the B467 Uxbridge, Harefield, Ickenham. You are now at Swakeley’s roundabout.
From Milton Keynes/Luton M1
Leave the M1 at junction 6a and keep right to join the M25 motorway (signposted Heathrow Airport). Leave the M25 at junction 16 and join the M40 eastwards (signposted Uxbridge, London). Continue on the M40 (which turns into the A40) until you reach the exit for the B467 (signposted Uxbridge, Harefield, Ickenham). Exit on slip road and you are now at Swakeley’s roundabout.

From Hillingdon, Uxbridge
Join the B467 northwards and continue to its junction with the A40. You are now at Swakeley’s roundabout.
From Swakeley’s Roundabout
Follow the signs to Harefield. After about half a mile you will reach a mini-roundabout. Turn left: the road will take you through the countryside for about three miles to a mini-roundabout. Go straight across it, up the hill and you will be on Harefield High Street. A the mini-roundabout in the centre of the village cross straight over, passing the Kings Arms public house and Harefield Health Centre on your left. The hospital’s front entrance is about 400 metres further along at the next left fork. Proceed into the hospital’s grounds for parking.
