Consultant cardiologist, Honorary senior lecturer at Imperial College London
Dr Sam Kaddoura trained at the University of Oxford, the University of London, and in the USA. He has extensive clinical training in cardiology and holds a PhD in cardiovascular research.
In 1996, Dr Kaddoura was appointed as a consultant cardiologist at Royal Brompton Hospital. For much of the time, he has also been the clinical lead for cardiology at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital.
In addition, he is an honorary consultant cardiologist for the Royal Hospital Chelsea, the home of the Chelsea pensioners.
Dr Sam Kaddoura specialises in all aspects of general adult cardiology, and treats a range of conditions, including:
- heart murmurs
- heart failure
- high blood pressure
- high cholesterol
- cardiac emergencies
- cardiac catheterisation – angiography
- echocardiography (echo)
He is a particular expert in the field of echocardiography (echo), which he is known for internationally. He is committed to providing the excellent patient care, thanks to his skills in listening and communication.
Dr Kaddoura is an honorary senior lecturer at Imperial College London.
Dr Kaddoura has been published numerous times in international journals such as:
- The Lancet
- New England Journal of Medicine.
He has been an associate editor for the European Heart Journal, a university examiner, and an educational supervisor for medical students and doctors.
He has also written several medical textbooks. As well as being a recognised expert in performing echo, Dr Kaddoura wrote the book ‘Echo Made Easy‘ (3rd edition 2016), which has become an international bestseller in the field of medical imaging. This book is the recognised essential training manual for doctors, medical students and paramedics. It has been translated into seven languages including Chinese, Turkish, Spanish, Portuguese and Polish.
Dr Sam Kaddoura has received fellowships from the:
- Royal College of Physicians
- European Society of Cardiology
- American College of Cardiology
He is part of the cardiovascular disease pathways working group at the Royal College of Physicians. Also, he is a member of a number of working groups at the European Society of Cardiology.
He has been a member of international data safety monitoring boards for the development of new cardiovascular drugs. In addition, he’s served on the expert panel developing National Institute for Clinical Excellence (NICE) clinical guidelines for pre-operative testing.
