Mr Vik Veer
Snoring and Sleep Apnoea Surgeon
Mr Vik Veer went to University College London Medical School and then continued his training on the Bartys and Royal London Surgical Training Rotation.
He continued his advanced ENT training in Newcastle, Evelina Paediatric Hospital at St Thomas’ Westminster London, France, Italy and Australia.
After this, he took up a post at the Royal National Throat, Nose & Ear Hospital at Kings Cross, London and works in the award-winning sleep-surgery department there. He is the co-founder of the British Association of Sleep Surgeons.
Mr Vik Veer has a clinical interest in the following:
- obstructive sleep apnoea (OSA)
- sleep-disordered breathing
- hearing problems
- nasal obstruction
Mr Vik Veer is currently developing a national research database for forwarding the newly form field of sleep surgery and speaks internationally on the subject.
He is at the forefront of new technologies for snoring and obstructive sleep apnoea (OSA) and is working with researchers to be one of the first surgeons in the country to implant a bilateral hypoglossal nerve stimulator for severe OSA.
He is also developing new techniques and classifications for sleep-related disorders and regularly speaks at international conferences.
Mr Vik Veer is the programme director for the school of surgery, in this position he is setting up a new School of Surgery at Barking, Havering and Redbridge Trust hospitals. This is to provide high-quality training for junior doctors so that hospitals can become safer and more efficient.
He is also the founder and director of Prepared for ENT, a registered charity that provides educational courses for ENT doctors.
