Sharing our specialist knowledge – Collaboration and visiting doctors programme
Consultants and staff from across our hospitals share their specialist knowledge through teaching and other initiatives. This has resulted in partnerships with healthcare organisations both within the UK and across the globe.
One of our most recent collaborations has been the establishment of a long-term visiting doctor programme in Kuwait. Consultants now have the opportunity to visit local hospitals to share clinical knowledge and improve healthcare outcomes for Kuwaiti patients.
Over the last year, many consultants have visited the Sabah Al-Ahmad Cardiac Centre in Kuwait including; Dr Robert Smith, Dr Abtehale Al-Hussaini, Professor Raad Mohiaddin, Mr Cesare Quarto and Professor Ulrich Stock. They helped local clinicians develop their practice, attended to patients and gave thought-provoking lectures.
King’s Health Partners collaboration
A new partnership between the Trust and King’s Health Partners is set to revolutionise future cardiovascular and respiratory services for patients. The proposal aims to create a London-based powerhouse in heart and lung medicine and research. Bob Bell, chief executive, commented, “The collaboration has potential to transform treatments and research in the UK, and become the most advanced cardiovascular and respiratory health system in Europe.”
International experts present at Trust-led conference
Clinicians from the Trust were joined by other international experts at the London Arrhythmia Summit 2019. Delegates gained valuable insights on important arrhythmias developments and changes and met cardiologists and cardiac experts from all over the world.
President for leading respiratory society
Congratulations to Professor Anita Simonds who has been elected President of the European Respiratory Society (ERS).
Professor Simonds commented, “This is a real opportunity to forge closer ties with our respiratory colleagues in Europe. It is critically important to maintain our EU research links, which are hugely productive.”
