Virtual Grand Rounds 2021
 

Virtual Grand Rounds

15th July 2021

Our hospitals host a series of expert-led Grand Rounds focusing on a wide range of cardiothoracic topics to attendees from the UK and overseas.

Join Professor Holger Thiele, based at the University of Leipzig, Germany, on the 15th of July to hear insight about the management of non-ST segment elevation myocardial infarction (NSTEMI).

Thoracic Surgery Grand Rounds

Led by Professor Eric Lim, the weekly virtual Thoracic Surgery Grand Rounds expands world leading expertise in thoracic surgery to an international audience of learners.

The series of talks include an update from Dr James Huang, from Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Centre, providing an overview on lymph node staging.

Transforming our healthcare services

Royal Brompton & Harefield NHS Foundation Trust have officially joined Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust to become one of the largest and strongest healthcare organisations in Europe.

Dr Richard Grocott-Mason, Managing Director of the new Royal Brompton and Harefield Clinical Group at GSTT explained; “This is a hugely significant moment in the history of our hosptials. Integrating our services gives us the best chance of leading and shaping the transformation of heart and lung care and research on a national and international stage.”

'Centre of Excellence' status award

The Arrhythmia Alliance has awarded our hospitals with 'Centre of Excellence' status in the field of arrhythmias. The international charity has also recognised Dr Shouvik Haldar as a pioneer in the management of supraventricular tachycardia (SVT) and demonstrating best practice.

Commenting on the recognition, Dr Haldar said: “This award will help us achieve our goal of setting the standard of care for patients with SVT.”

Leading advanced lung cancer treatment study

Researchers at Royal Brompton Hospital have been awarded £2 million by National Institute for Health Research (NHIR) to study treatment for residual advanced lung cancer.

Led by Professor Eric Lim, the study aims to spare patients from an intensive regimen of treatment.

A new international partnership

Our hospitals have entered a new strategic partnership with Indonesia’s Mandaya Royal Hospital Puri to enhance and support their clinical programs.

Witnessed by His Excellency Owen Jenkins, British Ambassador to Indonesia and Timor Leste, the virtual Memorandum of Understanding signing saw the beginning of a new long-term partnership, between a British and Indonesian institution.
