We’re excited to announce the upcoming  launch of our merged private patient service, Guy’s and St Thomas’ Specialist Care. It brings together expertise and excellence from all our five world-renowned hospitals to provide exceptional healthcare under one service.

World-class hospitals

In February 2021, Royal Brompton and Harefield hospitals merged with Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust to become one of the largest and strongest healthcare organisations in Europe.

Since then, we have been working to create a seamless service where private patients can access multidisciplinary specialist expertise from across our hospitals.

Each of our hospitals – Evelina London Children’s, Guy’s, Harefield, Royal Brompton and St Thomas’ – are internationally recognised for their specialisms. Collaborating as a service, we lead the way in treating the most complex cases – from before birth to later in life.

Doctors around the globe refer patients to us, recognising our distinguished expertise in diverse areas including heart and lung care, surgery, diagnostics, and women and children’s health.

In fact, our hospitals have been ranked as some of the best in the world. Newsweek, the American weekly news magazine, ranked Royal Brompton Hospital as one of the top 10 centres for cardiology and respiratory care, with Harefield and St Thomas’ hospitals also highly commended in these healthcare areas.

In addition, it recognised Evelina London as a leading centre for paediatric care, with Guy’s, Royal Brompton and St Thomas’ hospitals further praised as ‘Smart Hospitals’ with expertise including artificial intelligence and digital imaging.

Bringing together expertise and excellence

The history of each of our hospitals is filled with stories of clinical breakthroughs, providing care for patients in ways never previously possible.

From developing advanced 3D imaging techniques that help diagnose heart conditions before birth, to award-winning approaches in lung cancer treatment, we continually work to create positive change in the lives of patients and their families.

Our merged private healthcare service, Guy’s and St Thomas’ Specialist Care, will bring together the expertise of world-leading consultants from across our hospitals. This will ensure patients can access multidisciplinary specialist care tailored to their needs under one service.

This merged service will replace our existing brands, RB&HH Specialist Care and Guy’s and St Thomas’ Private Healthcare. However, to ensure a smooth transition of care, we will continue to deliver private patient services under these brand names for a few months more. During this time, you may continue to receive communications under these brand names.

Dedicated to specialist care

Expanding our services

We know that patients come from far and wide to seek our specialist services. That’s why we are increasing our capacity to enable many more patients to receive the world-class care they need.

Wimpole Street, our dedicated private outpatients and diagnostics centre in the Harley Street medical area, has doubled in size with the expansion to 79 Wimpole Street next door

This means we can now additionally offer paediatric, maternity and physiotherapy services in one convenient central London location, as well as increased diagnostic capacity in areas such as cardiac physiology and lung function testing.

Our Royal Brompton outpatient wing located at the Old Fire Station building in Chelsea has also expanded, providing 6 new consulting rooms for patients to see our heart and lung experts. This is in addition to a suite of new heart and lung diagnostic facilities.

We are also excited about the building of a new Children’s Day Treatment Centre adjacent to Evelina London Children’s Hospital that is due to be completed in 2023.

The NHS facility, that private patients will have access to, will reduce waiting times on the day of surgery and enable children and young people to receive pre-surgery checks, surgery, recovery care and preparation for going home all in one location, in one day.

It will have two state-of-the-art operating theatres and surgical specialties will include:

  • general surgery
  • gastroenterology (digestive system)
  • ENT (ears, nose and throat)
  • orthopaedics (bones, joints, ligaments, and tendons)
  • ophthalmology (eye care)
  • plastic surgery
  • urology (urinary tract and reproductive system)

Evelina London provides care for over 104,000 families a year and this new centre will enable an additional 2,300 children and young people to be treated.
