Welcome to our new private consulting rooms

General health

Every day, private patients come to our hospitals for the same reason: to access the world’s leading experts in heart and lung care.

We understand having access to expert care and getting answers to your questions is important. That’s why we have opened our new outpatient centre located at the iconic Old Fire Station building on South Parade, Chelsea, while our old outpatients building is under construction.

At our new facility you’ll be able to see one of our experts in person. They’ll provide the knowledge and experience that others won’t be able to and they’re people you can trust.

To help prevent the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19), we have taken extra measures to reduce the risk for patients and staff through the use of social distancing in the waiting area, a symptom check station on arrival and thorough cleaning of all equipment and environs.

Providing you with expertise and the personalised care you need is our priority. Your journey will start with a friendly welcome from reception team who will answer any questions you may have. Ahead of your appointment you can relax in our bright waiting lounge where you can access the RBHT Guest Wi-Fi facility.

The new outpatient suite includes two modern consulting rooms, and a dedicated treatment room providing a blood testing service. Alongside our talented consultants, a nursing sister trained in cardiothoracic care takes charge of the daily management of the centre.

Whether it’s to seek an expert opinion for your heart or to check how you’re breathing, many of our specialists are available on the same day they are booked. We also offer a second opinion service, helping you to put your mind at ease. No matter where your treatment journey takes you, we’ll be close by your side, reassuring and guiding you every step of the way.

David Shrimpton, managing director of RB&HH Specialist Care, said:

“With the exciting development of a brand-new state-of-the-art imaging centre at Royal Brompton Hospital we have temporarily relocated our private outpatient consulting rooms to South Parade. We look forward to welcoming our patients and providing access to world-leading expertise, so they don’t miss out on getting the care and treatment they need during these extraordinary times.”

Award-winning design

The new outpatient facilities occupy the old Brompton Fire Station which was converted by renowned architects Floyd Slaski to meet the needs of our patients. Here you can also find Royal Brompton Hospitals Centre for Sleep.

Interestingly, the building’s architects were able to retain many of the original aspects of the old fire station – including the fireman’s pole. In fact, the centre’s innovative design gained worldwide recognition when it won a Design & Health International Academy award for ‘Use of Art in the Patient Environment’.
