Biography

Dr Jonathan Clague is a consultant cardiologist based at Royal Brompton Hospital who treats NHS and private patients.

He qualified in 1985 from St Mary’s Hospital Medical School (now part of Imperial College London). After working as a senior house officer (a junior doctor), he began his cardiology training at Barts Health Trust and The London NHS Trust.

Dr Clague then spent two years in the USA at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), where he undertook cellular pathology research.

On his return to the UK, he worked as a senior registrar at Royal Brompton Hospital and St George’s Hospital. In 1997, he was appointed as a consultant at Royal Brompton Hospital.

Dr Clague also regularly completes charity work alongside Chain of Hope to provide life-saving treatment for children born with cardiac diseases and visits Ethiopia to provide charity work in the country several times a year.

Dr Jonathan Clague has an academic interest in treating advanced cardiac failure with regenerative medicine therapy, where a patient’s autologous bone marrow cells are injected into their own heart.
