Biography

Dr Julia Selby qualified as a speech and language therapist having gained her PhD at the University of Connecticut, USA.

She has been working in the field of voice for more than 20 years and is one of the UK's leading therapists for the treatment of upper airway disorders. 

She regularly provides training for developing therapists and has been invited to speak at many national and international conferences. 

Clinical expertise

Dr Julia Selby has a special interest and expertise in treating all upper airways disorders including:

  • chronic cough
  • laryngeal hypersensitivity
  • laryngospasm
  • vocal cord dysfunction/inducible laryngeal obstruction
  • voice problems
  • throat discomfort
  • breathing difficulties. 

She has a holistic, individualised approach to treatment combining medical knowledge and investigations. These include nasendoscopy with psychological techniques where necessary. She works with a variety of patients, including professional voice users and athletes.
