Biography

Dr Resham Baruah is a consultant cardiologist who sees private patients and Royal Brompton & Harefield  Hospitals.

Dr  Baruah qualified with distinction from Imperial College London in 2004 and was also awarded a first-class honours degree in cardiovascular sciences and completed her PhD in periodic breathing and heart failure in 2010, both of which from Imperial College. She undertook postgraduate specialist training in North-West London, much of which was at Hammersmith and St Mary’s Hospital and was awarded a specialist heart failure fellowship with training in advanced heart failure, cardiomyopathy at the Heart Hospital, heart failure,  cardiac sarcoidosis and cardiac MRI  at the Royal Brompton Hospital

.She has worked at both the Chelsea & Westminster Foundation NHS Trust and the Royal Brompton and Harefield Hospitals as a consultant cardiologist since 2017.

In 2008,  she was awarded Winner British Junior Cardiology Research Awards, she was a Finalist Young Investigator Award at the British Society of Cardiology in Manchester in 2010 and won the Young Investigator Award, at the European Society of Cardiology Heart Failure, Berlin 2010.

Dr Resham Baruah specialises in all aspects of general adult cardiology and treats a range of conditions, including:

  • cardiac emergencies
  • sleep disordered breathing

  • transthoracic echocardiography
  • transoesophageal echocardiography
  • exercise stress echocardiography
  • pharmacolgical stress echocardiography
  • cardiac MRI.

Research interests 

Dr Resham Baruah has specialist research interests in dilated cardiomyopathy, heart failure and palliative care.
